Installing MAGGEY Deluxe on a Network

These directions do not apply to Windows Vista Computers.

CMSC, Ltd. does not charge any additional fee for installing MAGGEY Deluxe software on a network drive. However, you must have appropriate rights on your network for MAGGEY Deluxe to function normally. Talk to your Network Administrator before installing any software on your network.

MAGGEY Deluxe's installation will default to C:\Program Files\Maggey Deluxe. Although this path is good on the shared computer, be sure to change this location when installing on the workstation. Step 3 of this document has more detailed instructions on how to do this. Here are some other simple rules that must be followed to accomplish the installation successfully.

The computers will be sharing the data files and program from one location. Be sure to share only that directory, it is not necessary to share the entire drive. Windows XP systems will not allow workstations to have access to the Program Files folder although it will allow access to individual directories shared within Program Files.

  1. MAGGEY Deluxe cannot be accessed on the shared computer or server unless the currently logged in user on the workstation is also a user on the shared computer. Both workstation and server accounts must have the exact same name and at least be "Power Users" or have Administrative rights. Be sure that when you set up sharing on the drive that will be storing the MAGGEY Deluxe data, give users Read/Write rights or the ability for other users to change all files in the shared directory.
  2. Windows Components: Each workstation that will run MAGGEY Deluxe must have all of the system files that we distribute with the software. This can be accomplished in two ways.

A: Install the system files by using the Workstation Install on your installation CD and then drag and drop a shortcut to MAGGEY.EXE, WinTime. EXE and Menus Deluxe.EXE on the Desktop.
